Dicky’s passion for learning and dedication is great, but his resources are limited. Still, that didn’t stop him from bringing out his best in Bangkit, Google’s digital talent development program. Since 2019, Dicoding has been commissioned as a Bangkit course provider.
Born and raised in a low-tech neighborhood
Dickey was born and raised in a community in the middle of the forest. The youngest of two siblings, his mother is a teacher and his father is a forestry retired civil servant (dinas kehutanan). His parents’ decent jobs gave his family fairly good literacy compared to others in the village.
Little Dicky is a person who likes to play with computers. He is interested in computer games and sometimes tinkers with his laptop. Even when Dickie was in high school, he helped the principal troubleshoot computer problems. His experience with computers made him decide to really delve into informatics in college.
To improve his computer science
Dicky studied Information Engineering at Brawijaya University. As an informatics engineering student, his neighbors sparked curiosity because none of them were familiar with computers at the time. This is something new to the young people in the village. In his hometown, common occupations are agriculture and forestry, such as farmers, rangers and conservationists, etc., just like Dickie’s father.
Dicky had a hard time reassuring his 1000 Mobile Number List parents that IT was a promising career field. They just know that being a “PNS” is the best job in life. The only family member who gave him his full support was his older sister who understood what he was doing.
Struggling with 100 Kbps internet speeds
Dickey faced a difficult situation in his final years at college. The tragedy and hardship his family was going through made it imperative for Dickie to stand up, including supporting his family financially.
At that time, he just wanted to improve his skills and knowledge so that he could find a job easily. So Dicky decided to teach himself Google Cloud. The problem is that the internet speed in his forest village is only 100 Kbps. No matter how slow the connection, Dicky still puts a lot of effort into learning Google Cloud. He is patient enough to do chores and read documents while waiting for internet speed to process his requests.

These words encouraged Dicky to do his FIND List best while contributing to Bangkit 2021. In Bangkit, he had an unforgettable teaching experience, was appreciated by students, and got better job opportunities. His decision to attend Bangkit had an impact not only on the students who joined, but also on his ability as a coach. After Bangkit, he was more motivated to become an educator. result? He recently earned a Google Educator Level 1 Certificate.
Grow with decoding
For Dicky, Dicoding is a dream company he’s known since college. So Dicky was very surprised when a job opportunity in Dicoding came up. He couldn’t believe that his excellent performance as a coach at Bangkit had given him an unexpected opportunity. Dicky was invited to be Bangkit’s decoding professional lecturer to make more contributions.
After Dicky finished his contribution to Bangkit, he used his time to join Academy Team to develop himself in Dicoding. His passion for sharing and giving inspired him to create a course called Belajar Dasar Google Cloud or “Learn Google Cloud Fundamentals.
